DUI - Police - SR22

A DUI and now an SR22?

Last night, Kennewick police officers pulled over to assist a vehicle on the side of the roadway with its emergency flashers on. Upon investigation they suspected the driver had been drinking and after a field sobriety test, arrested him for allegedly driving under the influence (DUI).

The Kennewick police story on Facebook does not say why the driver had pulled over or why he had his emergency flashers on. Did he realize he was drunk or did he need to answer natures call? Either way, now he has bigger problems. Please do not drink & drive! It is not worth it. At best you get caught and lose your license. At worst you cause a serious accident and have to live with the consequences your entire life.

DUI? What Next?

If convicted of a DUI, you will lose your license To get it back the court will most likely require you to get counseling, have a breathalyzer installed, and carry SR22 insurance. SR22 insurance is Mid-Columbia Insurance’s specialty. As a broker, we have multiple companies that we can quote to find you the best rate and file the SR22 with Washington state (or just about any other state).

What is an SR-22?

An SR-22 is really just a proof of insurance card that is filed electronically with the Department of Licensing to prove you have insurance. The difference is, if you let your insurance lapse the company is required to notify the state (with an SR-26) and the state then will notify you that your license will be revoked again if coverage is not obtained.
