What is SR22 Insurance coverage?
Sometimes an SR22 is also called a certificate of financial responsibility (CFR) filing. Having an SR22 form on file just proves you are fulfilling the state’s minimum auto insurance coverage requirements.
If you let your SR-22 insurance go unpaid, your insurance provider is obligated to inform the state with a SR-26 form and if you go for a time without the SR 22, you might have to pay a fine to restore your license once you get a new SR22.
Is an SR-22 the same as car insurance?
An SR-22 is evidence you have car insurance coverage. Similar to the Proof of Insurance Card you would show to a cop if you were pulled over but the SR 22 form is submitted to the Department of Licensing (DOL).
Having an SR22 is simply proof you are satisfying the state’s minimum auto insurance requirements and is just a rider on your car insurance policy. Your insurance carrier is certifying to the DOL that you have liability insurance in force with them and they pledge to alert the DOL if your insurance cancels.
I Don’t Own a Vehicle– Can I Still Get an SR 22?
Yes, you can get an SR22 even if you do not own an auto. If the Department of Licensing (DOL) mandates you carry an SR22 to resore your driver’s license, we can help even if you do not own a car.
You can also get what is called a BroadForm Insurance plan, or more typically “Drivers License Insurance”.
A BroadForm policy covers you when you are driving almost any car, owned or non-owned.
There are downsides to insuring your license. Make certain to speak with any of our knowledgeable insurance representatives when making this crucial choice.

Can My Existing Company File My SR-22?
Your existing agent can probably attach an SR-22 to your insurance policy yet this might cause troubles for you. Numerous insurance companies consider themselves “preferred” and so do not wish to insure individuals that need an SR22. They may jack up your prices significantly and even cancel your plan at renewal when they find out you need an SR 22.
Can I get an SR-22 from a different insurance company?
Yes, you can have a different insurance provider submit your SR22 with the DOL and not inform your current insurance company. If they do not examine your driving record, and unless there was an accident they probably won’t, you probably can maintain your preferred vehicle insurance prices.
If you do not wish to inform your current insurance agent regarding your requirement for an SR22, Mid-Columbia Insurance can write a simple insurance plan on your driver’s license (called Broad Form) with the SR 22 so you can maintain your current “preferred” insurance on your autos as well as have an SR-22 on your license.
Just How Much Is SR-22 Insurance Coverage in Castle Rock?
The average rate of SR22 insurance should be less than $5 each month when added to an ordinary car insurance plan considering that the majority of insurance providers only charge about $25 per 6 month policy term for an SR22 filing. This is simply the cost the insurance provider includes to manage the documentation required by the state to inform them that you have an SR22 insurance filing. If your company charges more, you might want to get a new quote and Mid-Columbia Insurance would love to help!
Why, then, does SR22 insurance appear so expensive? An SR-22 is just a rider on your ordinary car insurance. If it is pricey, it is because the vehicle insurance rate is based on your actual driving record. Did you get a ticket for driving under the influence? Several traffic tickets? Involved in an accident? Been without insurance coverage? Certainly something happened to trigger you to need the SR-22 and this is what triggers your insurance to be higher than others.
So, Just how much does SR-22 insurance cost? SR22 insurance coverage is inexpensive. It is your driving record that is costly.
How Long Am I Required to Have An SR22?
Usually you have to carry an SR-22 for Three years however it may possibly be more or less depending upon the judge and your situation.
The very best way to learn how long you are going to really need to carry an SR22 is to call the Washington DOL directly and ask them.
What Occurs If I Cancel My SR-22 Insurance?
If, while mandated, your SR-22 insurance coverage terminates while an SR 22 is still required, the state will re-suspend your driver’s license till you get another SR-22 submitted once more as well as you might be required to pay the reinstatement costs again in order to get your license back.
When your SR22 cancels, the insurance provider is obliged to file an SR-26 with the state to alert them that you no longer have active insurance.

Does SR-22 Hike Insurance Rates?

Castle Rock is part of the Longview, Washington Metropolitan Statistical Area; the population was 1,982 as of the 2010 census.
Castle Rock is named for a volcanic rock outcropping over the Cowlitz River, “The Rock”, rising 190 feet high on the south side of the city. The rock formation, resembling a castle, became a geographic landmark for Cowlitz Indians and Hudson’s Bay Company traders as early as 1832. Castle Rock is centered primarily on the donation land claim of Eliza and William Huntington, who settled at the location in 1852. The city was platted December 12, 1888 and incorporated on June 20, 1890. Castle Rock prospered as a Cowlitz River steamboat port and trading center for valley farms. The local sawmill was the first to produce cedar shingles, using the Western red cedar, which grows in abundance in the region.
