What is SR-22 Insurance coverage?
Sometimes an SR22 is also called a certificate of financial responsibility (CFR) filing. Having an SR 22 form on file merely indicates you are satisfying the state’s minimum car insurance requirements.
If you let your SR 22 insurance coverage go unpaid, your insurer is obligated to inform the state with a SR 26 form and if you go without the SR-22, you may have to pay the state to get back your license once you get a brand-new SR-22.
Is an SR22 considered auto insurance?
An SR 22 is proof you have automobile insurance. Kind of like the Proof of Insurance Card you would show to law enforcement if you were pulled over but the SR-22 is submitted to the Department of Licensing (DOL).
Having an SR22 is simply proof you are meeting the DOL’s minimum auto insurance requirements and is simply an addition to your car insurance coverage. Your insurance provider is verifying to the state that you have liability insurance in force with them and they pledge to inform the state if your insurance coverage terminates.
I Don’t Own an Automobile– Can I Get an SR-22?
Yes, you can get an SR22 even if you do not own a car. If the Department of Licensing (DOL) requires you carry an SR 22 to keep your driver’s license, we can help even if you don’t own an automobile.
You can also get what is called a Broad Form Insurance plan, or more typically “Drivers License Insurance”.
A Broad Form policy covers you when you are driving almost any car, owned or non-owned.
There are disadvantages to insuring your license. Be sure to speak to one of our experienced insurance representatives when making this essential choice.

We work for you, comparing the rates and protections of several vehicle insurance providers and providing you options.
Can My Existing Insurance Agent File My SR22?
Your current company can attach an SR-22 to your insurance plan yet this may create issues for you. Numerous insurance providers consider themselves “preferred” and so do not wish to insure individuals that require an SR22. They might raise your prices significantly or even cancel your policy at renewal when they learn you require an SR-22.
Can I obtain an SR-22 from a different insurance provider?
Yes, you can have a different insurer file your SR22 with the state and not inform your existing insurer. If they don’t inspect your driving record, and unless you were involved in an accident they probably won’t, you might be able to maintain your preferred auto insurance policy rates.
If you don’t wish to tell your existing insurance agent about your requirement for an SR22, Mid-Columbia Insurance can offer a simple insurance policy on your driver’s license (called Broad Form) with the SR 22 so you can keep your existing “preferred” insurance policy on your cars and also have an SR-22 on your license.
How Much Is SR 22 Insurance in Ferry County?
The typical rate of SR22 insurance should be less than $5 monthly when added to a regular vehicle insurance plan because most insurance companies only charge about $25 per 6 month policy term for an SR22 filing. This is just the charge the insurer charges to deal with the documents needed by the state to notify them that you have an SR22 filing. If your company charges more, it is time to get a new quote and our agency would love to help!
Why, then, does SR-22 insurance coverage seem so pricey? An SR-22 is just a rider on your standard auto insurance policy. If it is pricey, it is due to the fact that the vehicle insurance rate is based upon your actual driving record. Did you get a DUI? Several traffic tickets? Involved in a wreck? Been without insurance? Clearly something happened to cause you to need the SR22 and this is what triggers your insurance to be higher than others.
How much will SR-22 insurance coverage run? SR22 insurance coverage is inexpensive. It is your driving record that is pricey.
For How Long Am I Required to Have My SR22?
Typically you are required to have an SR22 for 3 years yet it could quite possibly be more or less depending on the court and also your situation.
The most effective way to find out how long you will really need to have an SR22 is to call the Washington DOL directly at (360)902-3900 and ask.
What Takes place If I Cancel My SR22 Insurance Policy?
If your SR22 insurance coverage cancels while an SR-22 is still required, the state will suspend your driver’s license until you get another SR22 filed once again as well as you may need to pay the reinstatement fees once again in order to get your license back.
When your SR 22 terminates, the insurance provider is required to file an SR26 with the DOL to inform them that you no longer have active insurance.
If you are pulled over while your SR22 is terminated, you most likely will receive a ticket for driving while suspended, which will hike up the cost on your insurance even more.
How Can I Obtain The Lowest SR-22 Insurance Prices?
The lowest SR 22 insurance coverage prices can be obtained by checking prices of a number of insurance providers that focus on SR-22 insurance. The most convenient way to do that is to simply call us. We work with multiple insurance companies that provide SR 22 insurance– as well as we write a great deal of it.
If you live in Washington state and must get your license reinstated, we can really help. The SR22s are submitted electronically with the state so you can get your driver’s license back quickly.
If you reside in Washington you probably received your ticket here and therefore need a Washington SR 22 yet, if you require an out-of-state SR 22, we can also do Oregon SR-22s, California SR22s, Idaho SR 22, as well as practically every other state.
Can I Get An SR-22 Without Having A Car Insurance Policy?
If you don’t have auto insurance, you can get an SR22 by beginning a brand-new insurance plan and also asking the insurance provider to submit the SR 22 for you.
Washington state only mandates minimum liability limits on the policy so it does not need to be expensive to start. Certainly, the more tickets you have on your driving history, the more your insurance policy will certainly cost you.
A quick telephone call and we can have your insurance policy started and also your SR-22 on its way to the DOL.
Does SR22 Raise Insurance Rates?
Needing an SR-22 increases your insurance prices because the majority of preferred insurance providers don’t want to cover a driver that requires an SR22 and because of the tickets you probably have on your driving history.
The real SR22 filing will only add around $25 to your car insurance policy, yet you will probably need to obtain an insurance policy with a “High Risk” insurer willing to gamble on covering you.

About Ferry County
Ferry County is a county located on the northern border of the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2010 census, the population was 7,551, making it the fourth-least populous county in Washington. The county seat and largest city is Republic. The county was created out of Stevens County in February 1899 and is named for Elisha P. Ferry, the state’s first governor.
During the time of Washington Territory, the Territorial Legislature created Stevens County in 1863, containing all the land from the Columbia River to the Cascades north of the Wenatchee River from Walla Walla County. On January 20, 1864, the original Spokane County was dissolved and merged with the unorganized Stevens County. The western section of Stevens County was separated on February 18, 1899, and named Ferry County, in recognition of the Territory’s last governor and the State’s first governor, Elisha P. Ferry.
The town of Republic is the county’s seat of government, as well as the largest town. It was founded at the end of the nineteenth century by gold prospectors and was incorporated in 1900. The original election precinct of Republic was created on April 6, 1898.
