What is SR22 Insurance coverage?
Often an SR22 is called a certificate of financial responsibility (CFR) filing. Having an SR-22 form on file simply means you are fulfilling the state’s minimum automobile insurance requirements.
If you let your SR-22 insurance coverage go unpaid, your insurer is obligated to notify the state with a SR 26 form and if you go long enough without the SR-22, you might need to pay the state to restore your license once you get a brand-new SR 22.
Is an SR-22 considered automobile insurance coverage?
An SR22 is proof you have car insurance. Similar to the Insurance ID Card you would present to a cop if you were pulled over but the SR22 is filed with the Department of Licensing (DOL).
Having an SR22 is simply evidence you are satisfying the DOL’s minimum automobile insurance requirements and is simply an addition to your vehicle insurance . Your insurance carrier is verifying to the state that you have liability insurance in force with them and they are required to alert the DOL if your insurance coverage terminates.
I Don’t Own an Automobile– Can I Still Get an SR-22?
Yes, you can get an SR 22 even if you do not have a vehicle. If the Department of Licensing (DOL) requires you carry an SR 22 to reinstate your driver’s license, we can assist even if you do not own a car.
You can get what is called a BroadForm Insurance policy, or more typically “Drivers License Insurance”.
A Broad Form plan covers you when you are driving almost any automobile, owned or non-owned.
There are downsides to insuring your license. Make certain to speak with one of our knowledgeable insurance representatives when making this crucial choice.

Can My Current Company File My SR22?
Your current company can most likely add an SR 22 to your insurance plan yet this might trigger issues for you. Many insurance companies consider themselves “preferred” and so do not wish to cover individuals that need an SR-22. They may increase your prices significantly or perhaps terminate your plan at renewal when they learn you require an SR-22.
Can I obtain an SR22 from a different insurance provider?
Yes, you can have a different insurance provider file your SR22 with the state and not alert your current insurance provider. If they don’t examine your driving history, and unless you had a crash they most likely won’t, you may be able to keep your preferred auto insurance policy prices.
If you don’t intend to inform your present insurance policy agent about your requirement for an SR22, Mid-Columbia Insurance can write a simple insurance policy on your driver’s license (called Broad Form) with the SR 22 so you can keep your present “preferred” insurance on your cars and trucks and also have an SR-22 on your license.
How Much Is SR 22 Insurance Coverage in Granite Falls?
The average rate of SR-22 insurance should be less than $5 monthly when added to a standard auto insurance plan since a lot of insurance companies just charge about $25 per 6 month policy term for an SR-22 filing. This is just the fee the insurance provider charges to handle the paperwork required by the state to notify them that you have an SR22 insurance filing. If your insurance company charges more, it is time to get a new quote and Mid-Columbia Insurance would love to help!
Why, then, does SR 22 insurance coverage seem so costly? An SR-22 is simply a rider on your normal vehicle insurance. If it is costly, it is due to the fact that the car insurance rate is based on your driving record. Did you get a ticket for driving under the influence? Several traffic tickets? Involved in an accident? Been without insurance? Clearly something took place to cause you to need the SR 22 and this is what causes your insurance coverage to be higher than others.
So, how much will SR-22 insurance run? SR22 insurance is cheap. It is your driving record that is expensive.
For How Long Do I Need to Have My SR-22?
Typically you have to have an SR 22 for Three years however it may be more or less depending upon the court as well as your circumstances.
The most effective way to discover how long you are going to need to carry an SR22 is to call the DOL directly at 360-902-3900 and ask them.
What Happens If I Ever Cancel My SR22 Insurance Coverage?
If your SR22 insurance cancels while an SR 22 is still needed, the state will re-suspend your license until you get another SR 22 submitted once again and also you may have to pay the reinstatement fees again to get your driver’s license back.
When your SR22 cancels, the insurance provider is required to submit an SR26 with the DOL to inform them that you no longer have active insurance coverage.
If you are pulled over by the cops while your SR 22 is terminated, you most likely will receive a ticket for driving while suspended, which will increase the price on your insurance even more.
Exactly How Can I Obtain The Cheapest SR-22 Insurance Prices?
The most affordable SR-22 insurance coverage rates can be found by looking at rates of a few insurance providers that concentrate on SR22 insurance. The simplest means to do that is to simply call Mid-Columbia Insurance. We work with several insurance providers that offer SR 22 insurance– and also we write a great deal of it.
If you reside in Washington and must get your license reinstated, we can really help. The SR22s are submitted electronically with the state so you can have your drivers license back fast.
If you live in Washington you probably received your ticket here and so require a Washington SR 22 yet, if you need an out-of-state SR 22, we can also do Oregon SR 22s, California SR-22s, Idaho SR-22, and nearly every other state.
Can I Get An SR-22 Without Having An Auto Insurance Policy?
If you do not have car insurance, you can get an SR22 by beginning a new insurance plan and asking the insurer to file the SR-22 for you.
Washington state just mandates minimum liability limits on the policy so it doesn’t need to be expensive to get started. Obviously, the more tickets you have on your driving history, the more your insurance will certainly cost you.
A quick telephone call and we can have your insurance policy started and your SR-22 on its way to the DOL.
Does SR-22 Hike Insurance Prices?
An SR-22 hikes your insurance policy rates since most preferred insurers do not desire to insure somebody who needs an SR22 and due to the tickets you most likely have on your driving record.
The actual SR22 filing will only add around $25 to your vehicle insurance policy, yet you will probably have to obtain insurance with a “High Risk” insurance company ready to gamble on covering you.
Testimonials & Referrals
Daisy was AMAZING! I called in January needing insurance starting in February. She worked up a quote, and when we went to finalize it the insurance company underwriter changed the parameters. Instead of letting me get discouraged, Daisy went above and beyond to help me keeping in contact with me every couple weeks until my situation has changed enough to afford the required insurance. She never let me give up, and she did everything in her power to get me the best deals. Would highly recommend her. She’s a great asset to her company.
About Granite Falls
Granite Falls is a city in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. It is located between the Pilchuck and Stillaguamish rivers in the western foothills of the Cascade Range, northeast of Lake Stevens and Marysville. The city is named for a waterfall north of downtown on the Stillagumish River, also accessible via the Mountain Loop Highway. It had a population of 3,364 at the 2010 census.
The site of Granite Falls was originally a portage for local Coast Salish tribes prior to the arrival of American settlers. The settlement was founded in 1883 and prospered after the discovery of gold and silver in the Monte Cristo mines located east of Granite Falls on the Everett and Monte Cristo Railway. Granite Falls was platted in 1891 and incorporated as a fourth-class town on November 8, 1903.
The Pilchuck River and Upper Stillaguamish basin was historically inhabited by the Skykomish people, who used the modern-day site of Granite Falls as a portage along with other Coast Salish tribes. Several Skykomish archaeological sites were discovered in the 1970s between modern-day Granite Falls and Lochsloy, with over 700 artifacts recovered from later excavation.
