What is SR22 Insurance coverage?
Sometimes an SR22 is called a certificate of financial responsibility (CFR) filing. Having an SR22 form on file merely indicates you are fulfilling the state’s minimum automobile insurance coverage requirements.
If you let your SR22 insurance go unpaid, your insurance company is obligated to inform the state with a SR 26 form and if you go long enough without the SR 22, you may have to pay a fine to restore your license once you get a new SR 22.

Is an SR-22 considered car insurance?
An SR22 is evidence you have car insurance. Sort of like the Proof of Insurance Card you would show to law enforcement if you were pulled over but the SR-22 is submitted to the Department of Licensing (DOL).
Having an SR 22 is merely proof you are fulfilling the DOL’s minimum vehicle insurance requirements and is just a rider on your auto insurance policy. Your insurance carrier is verifying to the state that you have liability insurance coverage in force with them and they guarantee to inform the DOL if your insurance cancels.
I Don’t Own a Car– Can I Still Get an SR 22?
Yes, you can get an SR22 even if you do not own a car. If the Department of Licensing (DOL) mandates you have an SR-22 to keep your driver’s license, we can help even if you don’t own an automobile.
You can get what is called a BroadForm Insurance plan, or more frequently “Drivers License Insurance”.
A BroadForm plan covers you when you are driving almost any vehicle, owned or non-owned.
There are disadvantages to insuring your license. Make certain to speak with one of our knowledgeable insurance representatives when making this important decision.
For additional information about Broad Form insurance, check out our Broad Form insurance/ Driver’s License Insurance page.

We work for you, comparing the prices and protections of multiple vehicle insurance companies and giving you a choice.

Can My Current Insurance Agent File My SR22?
Your existing insurance agent can most likely add an SR 22 to your insurance plan yet this might create issues for you. Numerous insurance companies consider themselves “preferred” and do not want to cover people who require an SR22. They might raise your rates significantly and even cancel your plan at renewal when they find out you require an SR-22.
Can I obtain an SR22 from a different insurance company?
Yes, you can have a different insurance provider submit your SR22 with the DOL and not inform your current insurer. If they do not inspect your driving history, and unless you were involved in an accident they probably won’t, you might be able to maintain your preferred auto insurance prices.
If you don’t intend to tell your current insurance representative regarding your need for an SR22, Mid-Columbia Insurance can offer a standard insurance plan on your driver’s license (called Broad Form) with the SR 22 so you can maintain your current “preferred” insurance on your vehicles and also have an SR-22 on your license.
How Much Is SR 22 Insurance in Malott?
The typical price of SR 22 insurance coverage ought to be less than $5 monthly when included in a typical car insurance plan because many insurance companies just charge about $25 per 6 month policy term for an SR22 filing. This is just the fee the insurance provider charges to manage the documents required by the state to notify them that you have an SR22 filing. If your company charges more, you might want to get a new quote and we are more than happy to help!
Why, then, does SR22 insurance coverage seem so costly? An SR22 is just a rider on your normal vehicle insurance. If it is pricey, it is due to the fact that the vehicle insurance rate is based upon your driving record. Did you get a DUI? Several traffic tickets? Involved in an accident? Been without insurance coverage? Undoubtedly something happened to cause you to need the SR22 and this is what triggers your insurance to be higher than others.
So, how much will SR 22 insurance cost? SR22 insurance is affordable. It is your driving record that is not.

For How Long Am I Required to Have My SR 22?
Generally you have to carry an SR22 for Three years but it could quite possibly be more or less depending on the court and your circumstances.
The most effective way to learn how long you are going to really need to carry an SR22 is to call the Department of Licensing directly and ask.
What Happens If I Ever Cancel My SR 22 Insurance Policy?
If your SR-22 insurance policy cancels while an SR 22 is still required, the state will suspend your drivers license till you get another SR-22 filed once more as well as you may need to pay the reinstatement costs again in order to get your drivers license back.
When your SR 22 terminates, the insurer is obliged to submit an SR26 with the state to notify them that you no longer have active insurance coverage.
If you are pulled over by the cops while your SR 22 is terminated, you probably will receive a ticket for driving while suspended, which will raise the price on your insurance even higher.

Exactly How Can I Get The Lowest SR 22 Insurance Prices?
The lowest SR22 insurance policy rates can be had by looking into rates of a number of insurers that concentrate on SR 22 insurance. The simplest way to do that is to just call Mid-Columbia Insurance. We work with numerous insurers that offer SR-22 insurance– and also we write a great deal of it.

Washington state only mandates minimal coverage on the plan so it does not need to be expensive to start. Certainly, the more tickets you have received, the more your insurance will cost you.
A fast phone call and we can have your insurance launched as well as your SR22 on its way to the state.
Does SR-22 Hike Insurance Prices?
Needing an SR 22 increases your insurance policy prices since most name-brand insurance companies don’t desire to cover a driver who requires an SR22 and because of the tickets you probably have on your driving history.
