What is SR22 Insurance coverage?
Often an SR22 is also called a certificate of financial responsibility (CFR) filing. Having an SR 22 form on file just means you are fulfilling the state’s minimum automobile insurance requirements.
If you let your SR22 insurance coverage go unpaid, your insurance company is obliged to inform the state with a SR26 form and if you go without the SR22, you might have to pay a fine to get back your license once you get a brand-new SR 22.
Is an SR-22 considered automobile insurance?
An SR22 is evidence you have vehicle insurance. Similar to the Insurance ID Card you would present to a cop if you were pulled over but the SR22 form is submitted to the Department of Licensing (DOL).
Having an SR 22 is merely proof you are satisfying the state’s minimum auto insurance requirements and is simply an addition to your automobile insurance . Your insurance company is verifying to the DOL that you have liability insurance in force with them and they promise to inform the state if your insurance terminates.

Yes, you can get an SR 22 even if you do not have a car. If the Department of Licensing (DOL) requires you have an SR22 to keep your driver’s license, we can help even if you don’t own a car.
