What is SR 22 Insurance?
Sometimes an SR22 is also called a certificate of financial responsibility (CFR) filing. Having an SR-22 form on file simply proves you are meeting the state’s minimum vehicle insurance requirements.
If you let your SR-22 insurance coverage go unpaid, your insurance company is obliged to notify the state with a SR26 form and if you go long enough without the SR22, you might have to pay the state to reinstate your license once you get a new SR-22.
Is an SR-22 considered automobile insurance?
An SR22 is proof you have car insurance. Kind of like the Proof of Insurance Card you would present to a cop if you were pulled over but the SR-22 is submitted to the Department of Licensing (DOL).
Having an SR-22 is simply proof you are meeting the state’s minimum vehicle insurance requirements and is simply a rider on your auto insurance policy. Your insurance provider is verifying to the DOL that you have liability insurance coverage in force with them and they are required to inform the DOL if your insurance coverage lapses.
I Don’t Own a Car– Can I Still Get an SR22?
Yes, you can get an SR22 even if you do not own a car. If the Department of Licensing (DOL) mandates you have an SR22 to reinstate your drivers license, we can help even if you don’t own a car.

How Much Is SR-22 Insurance Coverage in Port Orchard?
The average rate of SR 22 insurance coverage ought to be less than $5 monthly when included in a regular car insurance policy given that many insurance providers just charge about $25 per 6 month policy term for an SR 22 filing. If your insurer charges more, you might want to get a new quote and we would love to help!
Why, then, does SR-22 insurance coverage seem so pricey? An SR-22 is just a rider on your ordinary vehicle insurance. If it is expensive, it is due to the fact that the auto insurance rate is based on your actual driving record. Did you get a ticket for driving under the influence? Numerous traffic tickets? Involved in a wreck? Been without insurance coverage? Clearly something occurred to trigger you to need the SR-22 and this is what causes your insurance coverage to be higher than others.
How much will SR 22 insurance coverage cost? SR22 insurance coverage is cheap. It is your driving record that is costly.
For How Long Am I Required to Have My SR 22?
Usually you have to carry an SR-22 for 3 years yet it could well be more or less depending upon the court as well as your circumstances.
The best way to learn how long you will really need to have an SR-22 is to call the Washington DOL directly at 360-902-3900 and ask them.
What Occurs If I Ever Cancel My SR-22 Insurance Coverage?

About Port Orchard
Port Orchard is a city in and the county seat of Kitsap County, Washington, United States. It is located 13 miles (21 km) due west of West Seattle and is connected to Seattle and Vashon Island via the Washington State Ferries run to Southworth. It is named after Port Orchard, the strait that separates Bainbridge Island from the Kitsap Peninsula.
As of the 2010 census the population was 11,144, and in 2019 the population was an estimated 14,597.
The first European-Americans to settle in what is now Port Orchard were William Renton and Daniel Howard, who set up a sawmill there in 1854. The town that was to become Port Orchard was originally platted in 1886 by Frederick Stevens, who named the new location after his father, Sidney. The town of Sidney was incorporated September 15, 1890, and was the first in Kitsap County to be both platted and incorporated. Shortly thereafter, the U.S. Navy sought a suitable location for another installation on the West Coast, and found it with the assistance of Sidney’s residents in Orchard Bay (this installation would later become the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton).
