What is SR 22 Insurance?
Often an SR22 is also called a certificate of financial responsibility (CFR) filing. Having an SR 22 form on file simply indicates you are meeting the state’s minimum vehicle insurance requirements.
If you let your SR 22 insurance go unpaid, your insurance company is obligated to notify the state with a SR-26 form and if you go for a time without the SR-22, you may need to pay the state to get back your license once you get a new SR-22.
Is an SR22 considered auto insurance?
An SR 22 is proof you have car insurance. Sort of like the Proof of Insurance Card you would show to a police officer if you were pulled over but the SR22 form is submitted to the Department of Licensing (DOL).
Having an SR 22 is merely proof you are meeting the DOL’s minimum vehicle insurance requirements and is simply an addition to your auto insurance coverage. Your insurance provider is verifying to the state that you have liability insurance coverage in force with them and they are required to notify the state if your insurance terminates.
I Don’t Own a Cars or Truck– Can I Still Get an SR22?
Yes, you can get an SR22 even if you do not own an auto. If the Department of Licensing (DOL) mandates you carry an SR22 to keep your driver’s license, we can help even if you don’t own a vehicle.
You can also get what is called a BroadForm Insurance plan, or more typically “Drivers License Insurance”.
A Broad Form plan covers you when you are driving almost any automobile, owned or non-owned.
There are drawbacks to insuring your license. Make sure to talk to one of our experienced insurance agents when making this crucial choice.

Can My Current Company File My SR 22?
Your current insurance company should be able to add an SR-22 to your insurance plan however this might trigger troubles for you. Numerous insurance providers consider themselves “preferred” and do not wish to insure individuals who require an SR 22. They might raise your rates substantially and even terminate your policy at renewal when they find out you need an SR 22.
Can I obtain an SR-22 from a different insurance agent?
Yes, you can have a different insurance agent file your SR22 with the state and not alert your current insurance provider. If they do not check your driving history, and unless you had a crash they most likely will not, you may be able to maintain your preferred car insurance policy rates.
If you do not intend to inform your existing insurance policy agent about your need for an SR22, Mid-Columbia Insurance can write a simple insurance plan on your driver’s license (called Broad Form) with the SR 22 so you can keep your present “preferred” insurance coverage on your automobiles as well as have an SR-22 on your license.
How Much Is SR 22 Insurance Coverage in Rainier?
The average rate of SR 22 insurance should be less than $5 per month when added to an ordinary vehicle insurance policy considering that the majority of insurance providers just charge about $25 per 6 month policy term for an SR-22 filing. This is simply the fee the insurance provider charges to deal with the documentation required by the state to notify them that you have an active SR22 insurance filing. If your insurance company charges more, it is time to get a new quote and our agency is more than happy to help!
Why, then, does SR-22 insurance seem so pricey? An SR22 is simply a rider on your normal car insurance. If it is pricey, it is due to the fact that the car insurance rate is based upon your actual driving record. Did you get a ticket for driving under the influence? Numerous traffic tickets? Involved in an accident? Been without insurance coverage? Certainly something took place to trigger you to require the SR 22 and this is what triggers your insurance coverage to be higher than others.
So, how much does SR22 insurance cost? SR22 insurance coverage is affordable. It is your driving record that is costly.
How Long Am I Required to Carry An SR-22?
Typically you need to have an SR 22 for 3 years but it could be more or less depending upon the judge and your situation.
The most effective way to learn how long you are going to need to have an SR-22 is to call the Washington Department of Licensing directly and find out.
What Takes place If I Cancel My SR 22 Insurance Policy?
If, while needed, your SR 22 insurance coverage terminates while an SR22 is still needed, the state will certainly re-suspend your drivers license till you get another SR22 filed again and you might have to pay the reinstatement fees once again to get your license back.
When your SR22 terminates, the insurance provider is required to file an SR-26 with the Department of Licensing to inform them that you no longer have active insurance.
If you are pulled over by the cops while your SR22 is terminated, you probably will get a ticket for driving while suspended, which will jack up the cost on your insurance policy even more.
Exactly How Can I Get The Lowest SR 22 Insurance Prices?
The lowest SR 22 insurance coverage prices can be found by going over rates of a couple insurance companies that concentrate on SR22 insurance. The most convenient way to do that is to just call Mid-Columbia Insurance. We work with numerous insurers that provide SR22 insurance coverage– and we write lots of it.

Can I Get An SR22 Without Having An Auto Insurance Policy?
If you don’t have auto insurance coverage, you can obtain an SR22 by starting a new insurance plan and also asking the insurer to file the SR-22 for you.
Washington state only mandates minimal liability limits on the policy so it does not need to be expensive to get started. Naturally, the more tickets you have received, the more your insurance policy will set you back.
A quick phone call and we can have your insurance coverage set up and also your SR 22 on its way to the state.
Does SR 22 Hike Insurance Prices?
An SR22 raises your insurance rates because a lot of preferred insurance providers do not want to insure a person that requires an SR22 and because of the tickets you most likely have on your driving history.
The real SR22 filing will just add around $25 to your auto insurance policy, but you will most likely need to get insurance coverage with a “High Risk” auto insurer ready to take a chance on insuring you.

Rainier began in the 1870s as a stop on the Northern Pacific Railroad line between Kalama, Washington and Tacoma. Situated amidst the ‘ten al quelth’ prairies – Lushootseed for “the best yet” – it was named for its view of Mount Rainier. In 1890, Albert and Maria Gehrke were the first permanent settlers to homestead in Rainier; later that year a store and post office were established by Henry Harmer, who homesteaded with his wife Jessie and children on the Deschutes river near Rainier. Rainier was officially platted in 1891.
In 1896, the community’s first full-time school as well as a Lutheran church were built by Albert Gehrke and his two brothers, Theodore and Paul; the buildings are now state historic landmarks.
