What is SR22 Insurance?
Often an SR22 is also called a certificate of financial responsibility (CFR) filing. Having an SR 22 form on file merely proves you are meeting the state’s minimum automobile insurance requirements.
If you let your SR-22 insurance coverage cancel, your insurance provider is obligated to notify the state with a SR-26 form and if you go for a time without the SR 22, you may have to pay the state to restore your license once you get a new SR-22.
Is an SR-22 the same as vehicle insurance coverage?
An SR22 is evidence you have cars or truck insurance. Sort of like the Insurance ID Card you would present to a cop if you were pulled over but the SR 22 form is filed with the Department of Licensing (DOL).
Having an SR-22 is just evidence you are satisfying the DOL’s minimum vehicle insurance requirements and is simply a rider on your car insurance . Your insurance company is verifying to the state that you have liability insurance in force with them and they promise to alert the DOL if your insurance cancels.
I Don’t Own an Automobile– Can I Get an SR 22?
Yes, you can get an SR-22 even if you do not own a vehicle. If the Department of Licensing (DOL) requires you have an SR 22 to reinstate your driver’s license, we can help even if you don’t own a vehicle.
You can also get what is called a BroadForm Insurance policy, or more frequently “Drivers License Insurance”.
A BroadForm plan covers you when you are driving almost any car, owned or non-owned.
There are drawbacks to insuring your license. Make certain to talk with any of our knowledgeable insurance representatives when making this crucial choice.

Can My Current Company File My SR-22?
Your existing agent can probably add an SR22 to your insurance policy however this might cause issues for you. Many insurance providers consider themselves “preferred” and so do not wish to cover people who need an SR22. They might increase your prices significantly and even cancel your policy at renewal when they find out you need an SR-22.
Can I get an SR 22 from a different insurer?
Yes, you can have a different insurance provider submit your SR22 with the state and not inform your present insurance company. If they do not examine your driving history, and unless there was an accident they possibly will not, you probably can keep your preferred car insurance policy prices.
If you don’t intend to inform your existing insurance coverage representative about your need for an SR22, Mid-Columbia Insurance can offer a basic insurance policy on your driver’s license (called Broad Form) with the SR 22 so you can keep your existing “preferred” insurance on your vehicles as well as have an SR-22 on your license.
How Much Is SR22 Insurance in Vader?
The average price of SR-22 insurance should be less than $5 each month when added to a typical vehicle insurance plan because many insurance companies only charge about $25 per 6 month policy term for an SR-22 filing. This is simply the fee the insurance company includes to deal with the paperwork required by the state to notify them that you have an SR22 filing. If your company charges more, you might want to get a new quote and Mid-Columbia Insurance is more than happy to help!
Why, then, does SR 22 insurance appear so expensive? An SR-22 is simply a rider on your normal vehicle insurance. If it is expensive, it is because the auto insurance rate is based upon your driving record. Did you get a ticket for driving under the influence? Several traffic tickets? Involved in an accident? Been without insurance coverage? Obviously something took place to trigger you to need the SR22 and this is what triggers your insurance to be higher than others.
So, how much does SR22 insurance coverage cost? SR22 insurance coverage is cheap. It is your driving record that is costly.
For How Long Am I Required to Carry My SR22?
Normally you are required to have an SR22 for 3 years however it could be more or less depending on the court as well as your situation.
The most effective way to figure out how long you are going to really need to have an SR 22 is to call the Department of Licensing directly and ask them.
What Happens If I Cancel My SR-22 Insurance?
If your SR 22 insurance cancels while an SR-22 is still needed, the state will re-suspend your license until you get another SR 22 filed once again as well as you may have to pay the reinstatement costs once again in order to get your drivers license back.
When your SR-22 terminates, the insurance provider is obliged to file an SR26 with the DOL to notify them that you no longer have active insurance coverage.
If you are pulled over while your SR 22 is terminated, you probably will get a ticket for driving while suspended, which will raise the price on your insurance policy even more.

A fast call and we can have your insurance launched and also your SR-22 on its way to the DOL.
Does SR-22 Increase Insurance Prices?
An SR-22 increases your insurance policy prices due to the fact that the majority of name-brand insurance companies do not want to cover somebody who requires an SR22 and also due to the tickets you probably have on your driving record.
The real SR22 filing will only add about $25 to your auto insurance policy, but you will most likely have to obtain insurance with a “High Risk” auto insurance provider willing to gamble on covering you.
Testimonials & Referrals
Vader is a city in Lewis County, Washington, United States. The population was 621 at the 2010 census.
Vader was originally named Little Falls and incorporated on January 12, 1906. The name was changed to Sopenah by the Northern Pacific Railway because there was already a Little Falls on their rail lines, Little Falls, Minnesota. The townspeople were unsatisfied with the new name and petitioned the Washington State Legislature to change it to Toronto. A dispute then arose which was resolved by a compromise agreement to name the town after a German resident (and Civil War veteran) named Martin Vader. The town name was changed to Vader by the legislature on March 25, 1913. Vader later moved to Florida.
More recently, a motion was made to change the name back to its original name, Little Falls. The motion was placed on the November 3, 2015 ballot to determine voter approval. But as of the last count (November 4, 2015), residents chose to retain Vader as the town name by a 3-to-2 margin.
