Do I really need to carry cars and truck insurance?
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2016 an estimated 7,277,000 police-reported traffic accidents happened and 3,144,000 individuals were hurt in those collisions and 37,461 individuals were killed, approximately 102 people every day, one death every 14 minutes.
Another word for “liable” is “responsible.” So, if you are responsible for an accident, you really need responsibility insurance coverage aka liability insurance in order to render financial relief to the victims of the accident.

The minimum car insurance required in Washington state is as follows:
- Bodily Injury Liability Coverage: $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident
- Property Damage Liability Protection: $10,000 per accident
Personal Injury Protection and Uninsured Motorist protections must be made available by the insurance provider but the law enables you to reject them by signing a rejection form.
Not only should you have insurance, but the law also necessitates that any time you are operating a vehicle in the state, you need to be able to present your proof of automobile insurance coverage to the police.
Failure to show evidence of insurance when requested by a law enforcement officer is considered an offense and can lead to fines of up to $550.
Can I get Vehicle insurance without a drivers license?
You can purchase vehicle insurance even though you do not have a driver’s license. Somebody might question why somebody would need to but there are a variety of good reasons someone might want to, all having to do with safeguarding themselves and their stuff.
- You have a foreign drivers license and are visiting the United States.
- You don’t operate a vehicle for health factors however you own a car or truck and a relative or a caretaker drives for you.
- You don’t drive but you have a teenager who wants to drive but you need to purchase the car in your name given that they are a minor.
- Your license is suspended, you most likely plan to get insurance coverage and an SR22 filing so you can get your license back.
- You’re trying to get your license and need to practice with your learner’s permit prior to taking the driving test.
In all these situations and more we can help you to get insurance even if don’t have a drivers license.
You are not legally required to have a drivers license in order to get vehicle insurance coverage but the majority of the big-name insurance companies, like GEICO, State Farm, American Family, and Allstate, may not be able to help you without a drivers’s license. Likewise, some representatives may not know how and why it can be done or may just not want to be bothered and for that reason will brush you off with a quick ‘no’. Let us assist. We understand our stuff.
Should I just purchase state minimum limits?
If you have no savings or assets, minimum liability insurance coverage may be enough however it would not be enough to pay for significant injuries or to repair/replace a more recent auto. Without adequate coverage, your future wages may be garnished to cover the damage you cause.
If you just are carrying the state-required $10,000 property damage and wreck a vehicle worth say $20,000, the insurer will pay the $10,000 but you are responsible for the rest.
Essentially, you are self-insuring for anything over the insurance coverage limits you have chosen. If you do not intend to have your income garnished or your properties sold off, seriously think about getting greater limits of liability.
Can I drive a vehicle I recently bought without insurance?
You cannot by law drive a car without insurance coverage. Even if you recently purchased it. Washington state requires all cars driven on public roadways to be insured. The fact that you just now purchased the auto does not alter the guideline.
Fortunately, if all your currently owned vehicles are insured by one insurance company then the coverage for those automobiles conveniently transfers for a few days (consult with your insurer to learn exactly how long).
If all your cars or trucks are not insured with a single insurer, you will certainly wish to call your company before you drive off with the car. If you do not have insurance, you will wish to call Mid-Columbia Insurance prior to driving off the lot
How can I review insurance coverage quotes?

Testimonials & Referrals
Freeland is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) on Whidbey Island in Island County, Washington, United States. At the time of the 2010 census the population was 2,045. The town received its name based on its origins as a socialist commune in the early 1900s: in the eyes of its founders, the land of the town was literally to be free for all people. Some of the first settlers were veterans of a prior experiment in socialism, the nearby Equality Colony.
Some Equality Colony dissidents, led by George Washington Daniels, incorporated the Free Land Association in 1900 and established the colony on land they purchased through James P. Gleason of the Fidelity Trust company. Members purchased dividend-paying shares in the association store fund and the machinery fund. The association store operated according to Rochdale Principles, and shares in the store were sold to non-residents as well as association members. Because members could pay for their land with dividends from their shares, the founders considered the land to be “free”. By 1902, however, the colony announced that new settlers would have to purchase land outright, as the idealistic land-financing plan based on share dividends had not worked.
Daniels platted five-acre tracts with wide streets to form the original townsite. Additional plats were added over the next several years.
