What is SR22 Insurance coverage?
Sometimes an SR22 is called a certificate of financial responsibility (CFR) filing. Having an SR 22 form on file simply proves you are satisfying the state’s minimum automobile insurance coverage requirements.
If you let your SR 22 insurance coverage go unpaid, your insurer is required to inform the state with a SR-26 form and if you go long enough without the SR-22, you may have to pay the state to get back your license once you get a brand-new SR 22.
Is an SR 22 the same as automobile insurance?
An SR22 is proof you have car insurance. Similar to the Insurance ID Card you would present to a cop if you were pulled over but the SR-22 form is submitted to the Department of Licensing (DOL).
Having an SR22 is just proof you are fulfilling the state’s minimum car insurance requirements and is just a rider on your automobile insurance policy. Your insurance carrier is verifying to the state that you have liability insurance in force with them and they pledge to inform the state if your insurance coverage terminates.
I Don’t Own a Cars or Truck– Can I Get an SR-22?
Yes, you can get an SR 22 even if you do not own a car. If the Department of Licensing (DOL) requires you have an SR-22 to keep your drivers license, we can help even if you do not own a cars or truck.

Yes, you can have a different insurance provider file your SR22 with the state and not inform your current insurance company. If they don’t examine your driving record, and unless you were involved in a crash they possibly won’t, you might be able to maintain your preferred car insurance policy prices.
If you do not want to inform your existing insurance policy agent regarding your need for an SR22, Mid-Columbia Insurance can offer a basic insurance plan on your ‘s license (called Broad Form) with the SR 22 so you can maintain your existing “preferred” insurance policy on your vehicles and have an SR-22 on your license.
Just How Much Is SR 22 Insurance in Selah?
The average price of SR-22 insurance ought to be less than $5 per month when included in a normal car insurance policy because a lot of insurance providers just charge about $25 per 6 month policy term for an SR 22 filing. This is just the charge the insurance company includes to manage the documents required by the state to notify them that you have an SR22 filing. If your insurance company charges more, you might want to get a new quote and we would love to help!
Why, then, does SR22 insurance appear so costly? An SR 22 is just a rider on your normal car insurance. If it is expensive, it is because the vehicle insurance rate is based upon your driving record. Did you get a ticket for driving under the influence? Multiple traffic tickets? Involved in a wreck? Been without insurance? Certainly something occurred to trigger you to require the SR 22 and this is what triggers your insurance coverage to be higher than others.
Just how much does SR22 insurance coverage run? SR22 insurance is inexpensive. It is your driving record that is not.
How Long Am I Required to Carry An SR22?
Typically you have to have an SR22 for 3 years however it could quite possibly be more or less depending on the court as well as your situation.

If your SR22 insurance policy terminates while an SR22 is still mandated, the state will certainly re-suspend your license till you get an SR22 filed once more and also you might have to pay the reinstatement charges again in order to get your driver’s license back.
When your SR-22 terminates, the insurance provider is required to file an SR 26 with the state to inform them that you no longer have active insurance coverage.

Does SR 22 Raise Insurance Rates?
Needing an SR 22 hikes your insurance prices because a lot of name-brand insurance companies do not care to cover a person who needs an SR22 as well as due to the tickets you most likely have on your motor vehicle record.
