Early Morning 7-Car Pileup on I-5 Near Dupont
MultiVehicle Accident Dupont WA

A multiple-vehicle collision occurred Wednesday morning on Interstate 5 near DuPont, Washington, leading to lane closures and miles-long backups. According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the incident involved seven vehicles and resulted in one person being hospitalized.

The chain-reaction crash happened around 7:30am on the northbound side of I-5. One individual was transported to a nearby hospital with facial injuries described as non-life-threatening.

While tow trucks had cleared the disabled vehicles from the roadway by 7:47am, traffic continued to move slowly even after all lanes were reopened. Images from the scene showed bumper-to-bumper congestion.

The cause of the initial accident remains under investigation, but officials say early morning darkness and wet roads may have been factors. Drivers are advised to avoid I-5 near DuPont as residual delays are expected during the busy morning commute.

This pileup is a reminder to all motorists to slow down, increase following distance, and use extra caution during hazardous weather conditions.

Insurance Considerations

The chain-reaction pile-up serves as an important reminder for drivers to make sure they have adequate car insurance coverage. When multiple vehicles are involved in an accident, property damage and medical bills can quickly escalate.

Review your policy’s liability limits and personal injury protection to ensure you have enough coverage in the event of a multi-car collision. Also, consider adding collision coverage and uninsured motorist coverage to better protect yourself as well.
