Is Motorcycle Insurance Coverage Required in Washington State?

Cycle insurance is required in Washington state as of July 2019. Washington state passed and the Governor signed a modification getting rid of the wording in the insurance coverage law excusing cycles from being forced to have insurance coverage.
If you cause an accident and do not have insurance, you could put you and your loved ones in financial danger for the damage caused to others. the crash is your fault or not, medical bills and lost income for you and any occupants of your car could drive you to bankruptcy. Required or not, you would want to have motorcycle insurance coverage so you can protect yourself from a liability lawsuit or a careless driver who hits you.

What Cycle Insurance Coverage Should I Get?

There are three coverages every bike insurance plan should have: liability, uninsured motorist}, and medical coverage.
  • Liability insurance coverage is the only protection that Washington state mandates you to carry (effective July 2019). Liability secures you if you’re found at fault for a crash where another individual is injured or their property is harmed.
  • Uninsured Motorist is, arguably, the most crucial insurance coverage and is listed second only because you can not get it without buying liability. With uninsured motorist, your insurance provider covers you and any others in your car as if they were the uninsured chauffeur’s insurance provider. In their October 2017 report, the Insurance Research Council reported that 17.4% of Washington drivers are uninsured.
  • Medical coverage is an optional coverage and covers any necessary medical treatment for you and any passengers up to the coverage amount you pick. This can be important if you don’t have health insurance to cover your medical expenses or you have a high-deductible health insurance.
You may be surprised that comprehensive & collision (aka full coverage) are not on this list. These coverages are often mandated by lenders if you take out a loan to purchase your bike. Yes, this protection is very crucial to the bank but the 3 coverages above are far more likely to keep you from personal bankruptcy in case of an accident. Let’s face it. All motorcyclists are at the mercy of other motorists. This is not a computer game where you can reset the game and start over. If you get struck, you might be hospitalized for months. Riding safe entails using the best protective gear. If you take your safety and the financial safety of your family seriously, then insurance coverage must be seen like protective gear.

Just How Much Does Motorbike Insurance Coverage Cost?

Cycle insurance coverage can cost you less than $200 yearly or be greater than $2000 annually depending upon six major variables: your age, your driving history, your motorbike, your home town, your chosen insurance coverages, as well as the discounts for which you qualify.
  • Your Age: Stats inform the insurer that if you are under 25 you are more likely to have a crash than if you happen to be 30+.
  • Your Driving History: If you have received speeding tickets or have already had a wreck in the last couple years, then your odds of having another wreck are greater.
  • Your Motorcycle: Some motorbikes seem to attract reckless riders.

About Oroville

Oroville is a city located in the northern bulk of the Okanogan Highlands in north-central Washington, United States. Oroville is a member municipality of Okanogan County, Washington, situated between Omak and Penticton. The population was 1,686 at the 2010 census.

Oroville was first settled by Caucasian settlers in the late 1850s and known as ‘rag town.’ The settlement was named Oro, after the Spanish word for gold, in 1892 after the surrounding gold mines and in an attempt to attract prospectors and merchants. The Post Office objected to the name “Oro” because a town was already named “Oso” in Washington, so the name was changed to Oroville, in 1909. Passenger train service to Oroville was operated by the Great Northern Railway until July 14, 1953, with freight operations continuing later.

Oroville started to become a tourist location; in the mid-2000s, large condo developments were proposed. The city had an economy peak in 2005–2007, but has continued suffering since to the ‘great recession.’ It is home to the Dorothy Scott Airport, an international municipal airport with U.S. Customs check, located two miles outside of the town center that was opened in August 1937.
